We could tell you that Double A is a leader in the paper industry. We could tell you that our premium paper is used worldwide by large businesses and small offices alike. We could tell you that we produce jam-free paper that doesn’t leave residue in your office printer like other brands do. And we are and do all these things.
But what we would really like to share with you is our company’s vision… because a high-quality, premium paper is only a portion of what Double A is about.
We believe that in order to protect the environment from traditional paper manufacturing, we must keep environmental sustainability in mind. We make our paper from a sustainable system that we developed which allows us to harvest tree fibers for our pulp from reusable resources.
The primary component of this system is called KHAN-NA. KHAN-NA are the walkways between rice fields in Thailand that typically goes unused for producing crops. We plant our patented Double A paper trees in the KHAN-NA so as not to disturb food production. We can then harvest these trees up to 3 times before having to replant.
After harvesting, the parts of the trees that are not used for pulp are then repurposed for the energy needs of our mills. This includes the wood bark, knotted wood, chips, lignin, and sludge. With our system, none of the tree goes to waste or ends up in a landfill.
Double A works tirelessly to provide economic sustainability for our partners, including the government of Thailand and the 1.5 million Thailand farmers that lend us their land. We pay farmers to plant our saplings into the KHAN-NA, grow the trees over the course of 3-5 years, then harvest the trees.
The great thing about our system is that we can meet all our tree fiber needs, and the farmers are provided more financial benefits for land that they typically would not use for rice farming. This helps drive up the economy of both the local and national governments of Thailand. The extra incomes for farmers, funds for schools, and both local and global employment opportunities all contribute to our goal of economic sustainability.
We feel that spreading the word about sustainable initiatives is essential to maintaining the health of our planet. By being a leader in sustainable paper production, we can help educate people around the globe about the importance of sustainable systems.
One of the ways in which we do this is by spearheading school funding programs where our trees are planted in vacant spaces around schools. We then purchase the trees when they mature. Schools then use those funds to improve classrooms or purchase educational materials.
Since 1991, we have been a leader in helping create sustainable initiatives and promoting smart, sustainable, and responsible environmental care. We make paper for more than 130 countries across six continents, so we want to make sure we are using our position to promote environment friendly practices.
