“It’s All in the Details” – Double A’s Production Process
The Double A production process all began with the idea that paper production doesn’t have to be use up the Earth’s natural resources. Instead of relying on the pulp and tree options of the past, Double A has spent years formulating a unique process, which not only creates the best sustainable paper on the market, but also helps the environment and economy along the way.
This is what we call the DA sustainability concept. The DA sustainability concept is comprised of three main elements: sustainable sourcing of the raw material, the social harmony the process creates, and the self-sufficient and state-of-the-art manufacturing of Double A paper products.
This is how we produce the best paper products possible while implementing a production process that is fully sustainable, environmentally friendly, and helpful for the economy and well-being of the countless farming families involved.
For over 25 years, Double A has tested more than 2,500 different tree specimens to develop a tree hybrid that is easy to maintain, easy to grow in all regions, and fully sustainable. Every three to five years, the trees fully mature, and are used to create the high-fiber paper you can purchase today.
However, the trees themselves are not the only thing that helps Double A stand out from the crowd. We also use what is called the Khan-Na, or unused space of rice paddy fields in Thailand, to plant trees. When doing this, the Thai farmers are paid for this excess space, and also paid once more when the trees fully mature. This process not only supports 1.5 million Thai farmers yearly, but also allows us to grow our trees in the best way possible, without imposing upon the environment in the process. This is where sustainable sourcing and social harmony come into play in our paper-making process.
After the trees mature, the next step in the production process is getting this paper product from rice fields to your office printer. Harvesting the trees is the first step, and transporting these trees to our manufacturing centers is when the fun really begins.
Because Double A prides itself on sustainable, high-quality paper, we focus on high fiber counts and sustainable binding agents to create the best paper products possible. With short fibers and no fillers in our paper, our paper outperforms other paper products on the market every time. The consistency, high opacity, and smoothness of the products are all because of the 30 million fibers-per-gram our paper is comprised of.
After our paper is done drying and appropriately cut, it is ready for companies to utilize. In this way, Double A accounts for every single aspect of the production process to create the best product every time.
Where Does Sustainability Come into the Equation?
Now knowing what goes into the production process, and also a bit more about the pulp industry worldwide, you may still be wondering what makes this process so sustainable in comparison to other paper products currently on the market. The answer to this is how much goes into the production process to make it a sustainable option.
Not only does Double A paper begin with a more sustainable tree option and planting option, but the trees planted also help Thai farmers to take care of their families, boosts the economy, and fight climate change by creating oxygen. In fact, according to Emaze, “On average, one tree produces nearly 260 pounds of oxygen each year.”
Furthermore, all waste from the production process is transformed into renewable biomass fuel that provides electricity for the local power plant and fuels the mill, thus supplying energy to support 400,000 people. Double A also conserves water by using a 35 million cubic meter reservoir, Emerald Lake, to acquire rain water for the production process.
Because of our state-of-the-art production systems and fully sustainable manufacturing centers, we create a manufacturing process that is sure to stand the test of time and fall in line with our goals.
These systems form the incredibly smooth and fully sustainable Double A paper you see today. From start to finish, our fully sustainable process makes us a force to be reckoned with in both the sustainability and paper production worlds.
